Zanaco Ladies striker Regina Chanda is fast emerging as one of the standout attacking players in Zambian women’s football. The focal point of Zanaco Ladies’ frontline, she has already contributed 18 goals and 11 assists in 28 games played in the just ended 2025/26 FAZ Women’s Zambian Super League.

Her journey began at Munali Ground, where a love for football was first shaped into purpose. From those modest beginnings, Chanda has steadily worked her way up to become a key figure at Zanaco Ladies.

“I started playing football at Munali Ground. That is where everything began for me.” Chanda said.

Away from the pitch, Chanda balanced football with her education at Munali Secondary School. Her path has also been marked by personal hardship, including the loss of her sister in 2024, an experience she says strengthened her character and resolve.

“We are four in the family, but I lost my sister in 2024. It has not been easy, but it has made me stronger.” Chanda said.

Football is a family affair, with her elder brother also playing the game, helping fuel her competitive drive and passion.

A major turning point came in 2020 when Regina joined Zanaco Ladies from BUSA Queens. Since then, she has grown into a dependable and clinical forward, known not only for finishing chances but also for creating them for teammates.

Her consistent performances have earned her recognition at international level. Regina first represented Zambia with the Under-20 side in 2019 before making the step up to the senior national team in 2023.

“I have been to the national team more than five times. I started with the Under-20 in 2019 and was introduced to the senior team in 2023.” Chanda said.

Since breaking into the senior setup, she has been part of Zambia’s COSAFA Women’s Championship squads, helping the team claim bronze in 2023, gold in 2024, and bronze again in 2025. She has also been named in a provisional squad for the FIFA Women’s World Cup, a clear sign of her rising profile.

More recently, Chanda featured in international friendly matches against South Africa and was part of the Zambian side that won the Three Nations Tournament in Malawi in December last year.

At club level, her numbers in the FAZ Women’s Super League speak for themselves. With goals, assists, and all-round attacking play, Regina continues to drive Zanaco Ladies forward in what has been a strong campaign.

Inspired by Chipolopolo star Klings Kangwa, Chanda remains focused on improving and reaching new heights.

“My idol and inspiration is Klings Kangwa. I look up to him and the way he plays.” Chanda said.

As the season progresses, Chanda’s story is one of steady growth, resilience, and ambition, qualities that make her one of the most exciting players to watch in Zambian women’s football.
