In a significant move toward enhancing player safety, the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Women’s Representative, Colonel Pricilla Katoba, conducted a safeguarding awareness session with Zanaco Ladies FC at Sunset Stadium yesterday.
The session, titled “Safe, Focused, and Future-Ready Female Footballers,” is part of a nationwide initiative in partnership with the Zambian Premier League. The program aims to equip players and technical staff in the Women’s Super League with the tools to identify and report physical, emotional, and financial abuse.
During the engagement, Colonel Katoba emphasized that safeguarding is a collective duty. “It
is important that players understand their rights and know they have the right to speak up,”
she stated.

Speaking on behalf of the team, Mercy Mwenya expressed gratitude for the training, noting
that it provided invaluable knowledge on self-protection and peer support. Zanaco Ladies FC
remains committed to fostering a respectful and secure environment for all its athletes as this
program continues to roll out across the league.
