Zanaco Football Club assistant coach Henry Banda says The Bankers are still in the race for the title after drawing against Green Buffaloes yesterday in Lusaka.

Banda was speaking to the media yesterday at Nkoloma Stadium, Lusaka in a post-match interview after a 1-all draw against Green Buffaloes.

“We are still in the race, the league is not over yet and we can still win it despite not collecting 3 points today. We will forge ahead and focus on our next games, “Banda said.

Second placed Zanaco had a chance of narrowing the gap with log leaders Zesco United to 3 points had they beaten Buffaloes yesterday.

Banda says his team’s focus is not on what Zesco or any other team is doing.

“Our focus is on winning all our remaining games. We are taking one game at a time. ” he said.

Banda says the team didn’t start very well in the first half against Green Buffaloes.

“We did not start very in the first half but in the second half we changed the formation which worked to our advantage and we managed to get a goal. We would have won the game but it was not our day, ” he said.

Buffaloes took the lead through Nicholas Mulilo in the 22nd while Moses Phiri equalised for Zanaco in the 50th minute.

Banda has also noted that the team’s away form has not been very good.

“Our away form has not been good especially in the first round but second round we are doing well; we have not lost a lot of away games, ” Banda said.

Zanaco are currently 2nd on the log with 50 points, five points behind Zesco.

The Bankers next game will be against demoted Kitwe United on 22nd May 2021 in a Week 32 fixture at Sunset Stadium.
