Zanaco Ladies on Thursday morning played a friendly match against the Senior Zambia Women’s National Team (Copper Queens) at National Heroes Stadium where the Copper Queens won 5-0.

Zanaco Ladies acting head coach Kaunda Mukonde described the friendly as insightful despite the result.

“The girls were not under pressure and we told them to enjoy the game. The match was a good opportunity for us and we made sure that we played all our players,” Mukonde said.

Kaunda added that the friendly game will help in the preparations for their Sunday’s League match.

Zanaco Ladies will host Elite Ladies at Sunset Stadium at 10:00 hours in a Week 19 fixture of the FAZ Women’s Super Division.

“We are up against the Elite Ladies this Sunday and this friendly game has just boosted the girl’s morale and motivation going into Sunday’s match. Lessons have been learnt,” Kunda said.

“They have seen how Copper Queens play and I am optimistic that what they have learnt today they’ll be able to execute it in the match.”

And Zanaco has one player on national team duty in the shape of Regina Chanda who also played in the friendly for Zambia.

Chanda said she’s settled in well with the Copper Queens fold.

“Most of the players in the Copper Queens squad are my friends and we meet and play against each other on the league hence that has helped me settle in just well,” Chanda said.

Meanwhile, the Copper Queens’ goals came from Marjory Mahongo Luwaya, fit-again striker Hellen Mubanga, Red Arrows striker Ochumba Oseke Lubanji and the Green Buffaloes duo of Maweta Glory Chilenga and Jessy Zulu.
