Though the 2020/21 FAZ/MTN Super League runners-up have been pitted among the favourites to win the competition, there is no doubt that the Bankers will fancy their chances of progressing to the next stage of the competition as they will be inspired by the fact that they had managed to defeat Pyramids away in Cairo the last time they featured in the competion.
Meanwhile, reacting to the draw, Zanaco FC head coach, Kaindu has described the draw as being fair as information on teams paired with is readily available.
“It is a fair draw, we have information about Pyramid we know how we play we have played them before, we are aware of them, but the only challenge will be in terms of traveling, as we'll have to fly to North Africa maybe even via Dubai and this is what make it difficult to catch up in league games.
"But, we have a bit of time to plan and prepare for the group stage, the biggest enemy will be travelling, it hasn’t been easy traveling to North Africa, it takes two days or three days to be there, but the team will have to prepare adequatetly for our opponents” he said.
Zanaco will kick off their group phase compaign away to CS Sfaxien at Stade Taïeb Mhiri in Sfax, Tunisia during the weekend of 11-13 February, 2022.
