Zanaco Ladies Acting Head Coach Grace Mwango says her side is ready for a strong start as the 2026 ZPL Women Super Division Transitional League kicks off this weekend.
The Bankers open their campaign with a tough Week One fixture against Red Arrows Women FC on Saturday, 26 September 2026 at Sunset Stadium. Kick-off is at 15:00 hours.
Speaking in her pre-match interview at Sunset Stadium, Coach Mwango said preparations have gone well and the mood in camp is positive ahead of the Southern Zone battle.
The 2026 Transitional League has seen teams divided into zones, with Zanaco Ladies placed in the highly competitive Southern Zone – alongside defending champions Green Buffaloes Women FC, Red Arrows Women FC, Green Eagles Women FC, Nkwazi Queens and other tough Lusaka-based sides.
Coach Mwango acknowledges the group is tough but says the team has prepared for the challenge and is focused on getting off to a winning start.
“We know we are in a difficult group with big teams like Buffaloes and Arrows, but we have prepared well. The girls are ready and we want to start with a win at home,” said Mwango.
She added that the technical bench has worked hard on both physical conditioning and tactical shape during the pre-season, and she is happy with the response from the players.
“The preparations have been very good. We have been working for several weeks now and the players have responded positively. The competition in the team is high and that has pushed everyone to work hard,” Mwango added.
The Acting Head Coach also highlighted the importance of playing at home and wants her charges to take advantage of the Sunset support to collect maximum points.
“Playing at Sunset is always a plus for us. It’s our home ground and we know it very well. We just need to stay disciplined, follow our game plan and make our fans proud,” she said.
She has called on the Sensational fans to come out in numbers to support the team at Sunset as they begin their journey in the Transitional League.
“We want to invite our supporters to come and rally behind the girls. Their support will be very important for us this season,” she concluded.
The match will be the first competitive game for the Ladies since pre-season training intensified over the past weeks, with the team eyeing a strong finish in the Group to qualify for the next stage.
