Our Young Zanaco team has been impressive this season in the FAZ Division One Lusaka Province league. On Saturday afternoon, we hosted Airport Warriors and secured a 4-0 win in our Week 15 fixture.

We opened the scoring in the 32nd minute through Emmanuel Zulu, who powered in a header. Just four minutes later, Maybin Mushota made it 2-0, heading in a Gift Kampambwe corner. Elijah Kondowe then added the third goal four minutes before halftime, and Benaya Malama sealed the 4-0 win in the 70th minute.

After 14 games this season, Young Zanaco has won 10, drawn 3, and lost just once. With one game in hand, we are leading the table with 33 points, opening a nine-point gap over second-placed Nampundwe.

Head coach Dabwitso Nkhoma praised the team’s performances so far.
“The boys have been outstanding this season. Looking back at how we performed last season compared to now, the progress is clear. Today’s 4-0 win shows how far we have come. Before the season started, we reinforced the squad with five new players, and it’s been amazing to see how well they have blended in with the team. Everyone has contributed, and that’s what has made the difference,” Nkhoma said.

He also emphasized the importance of staying focused on each game.
“Our focus remains on taking each game as it comes. We understand that consistency is key, and while qualifying for the ABSA Cup is a major target, we must approach each match with discipline and determination. The boys are committed, and their hard work on the training ground is translating well into our performances on the pitch,” he added.

With five games remaining before the end of the first round, the team leading the table will qualify for the ABSA Cup. Coach Nkhoma highlighted the significance of this opportunity.

“Qualifying for the ABSA Cup remains our primary goal. Playing in such a high-profile competition will give the boys invaluable experience and exposure, and it will help them grow as players. We want to make sure that when they step onto that stage, they are ready to compete at the highest level,”
