Zanaco head coach Numba Mumamba says he anticipates a tough encounter against Nkwazi
FC on Saturday, 29th March.

Zanaco will host the Zambia Police-sponsored side at Sunset Stadium in a local derby, a Week 29 fixture of the MTN Super League.

Speaking in an interview on Friday morning, Numba told Zanaco FC Media that his team has
prepared adequately for the match.

“From the time we played NAPSA Stars, we got down to work. We have prepared well for
this match. Looking at how Nkwazi has been playing this season, we are expecting a tough
game. But we also have players who can rise to the occasion and deliver the desired three
points because we are not in a comfortable position. Getting maximum points tomorrow will
give us some relief in our fight against relegation,” Numba said.

Four of Zanaco’s key players were away on national duty. Midfielders Kelvin Kapumbu and
Dominic Kanda, along with striker Wilson Chisala, were part of the Zambia Men’s National
Team that faced Russia in an international friendly match in Moscow on 25th March 2025.
Meanwhile, striker Chawanangwa Kaonga represented Malawi in their FIFA 2026 World Cup
Qualifiers against Namibia and Tunisia.

However, all four players have returned and are part of the squad available for Saturday’s
match.

“The four guys were away and have only trained with us for a day or two, but that isn’t a
problem. They know and understand how we play as a team. It is not strange to them.
Considering what we have been imparting in the players since we arrived, they know what is
expected of them, and we are confident they will add value despite the long journey from
Russia. We have put measures in place to ensure they are ready to perform,” Numba added.

Zanaco is currently in 14th position with 32 points, while Nkwazi sits in 6th place with 43
points.

Victory for Zanaco would significantly boost their chances of avoiding relegation.
