Mr. George Kamanga is the secretary of Young Zanaco football club with a historic background in sports in general and football in particular. He has played football for Mufulira Wanderers, Mufulira Blackpool and Zanaco Football club. His responsibilities are to administer the affairs of Young Zanaco and identify potential young players from various communities in liaison with the Young Zanaco Football club coaches. Since Young Zanaco is a reserve team for the senior team he has a mammoth task with the Young Zanaco coaches to nurture the young boys and ensure that they are eventually elevated to the senior team.
Prior to joining Zanaco George worked for Mufulira District Council as an Accounts Assistant from 1986 until he joined Zanaco in January 1992 as a soccer player from Mufulira Blackpool and Bank Clerk at Lusaka Premium House branch. He played for Zanaco from 1992 to 1995. He stopped playing after sustaining a serious Knee injury which kept him out of football till today. In 1996 he was transferred from Lusaka Premium House branch to the Information Technology department as a support Desk coordinator and later elevated to Business Applications System Analyst. In 2011 he was transferred to Finance Department in the MIS unit as a MIS Specialist the position he is currently holding. He holds an Advanced Certificate in Information Technology from Evelyn Hone College and is currently pursuing a Diploma in Business Administration at NIPA.
George has keen interest in football and hence has the passion to work with young boys and help them to become better players in future as can be seen by some of the young players graduating to the senior team during his tenure to mention a few namely Salulani Phiri, Moses Phiri, Boyd Musonda, Davy Daka, Ziyo Tembo, Charles Zulu, Kebby Kamanga, Mangani Banda, Benson Mwale, Timothy Sakala and recently Peter Kalota during his tenure as Secretary of Young Zanaco Football Club.
Due to the passion of the game George wants to continue helping the club in nurturing the young boys and help them to become better players and eventually graduate to the senior team at a minimal cost to the club.
